These objectives are in line with the following Millenium Development Goals adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 18th September 2000 (UN MDGs):

Goal number 1: Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger

(by increasing income opportunities of particularly the poorest groups of society)

Goal number 2: Achieve universal primary education

(by increasing access to education in remote areas, and improving the quality of education)

Goal number 3: Promote gender equality and empower women

(by raising female literacy, giving health education and encouraging participation of women in management of the projects)

Goal number 4: Reduce child mortality

(by increasing access to basic health services and encouraging vaccination and family planning)

Goal number 5: Improve maternal health

(by increasing access to antenatal and intrapartum care and family planning services and by raising awareness of common health problems)

Goal number 6: Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases

(particularly, improve case finding and treatment of TB, and prevent spread of HIV through health education and distribution of condoms)

Goal number 7: Ensure environmental sustainability

(this goal includes increasing access to safe drinking water; PHASE will also contribute to environmental stability by introducing sustainable forms of energy, wood-saving methods, and alternative sources of income for farmers in a sustainable way.)
